Children's Bedroom

This room originally served as Emilie's dressing room and later, a guest room.  The primitive bed, c. 1850, with  removable finials and a quilt roller bar at the foot is made of rosewood.  The bed was built high to warm sleepers above the cold floor.  the beds are short because people in the 19th century were shorter than they are today.

The rosewood dresser has secret drawers and the step-stool (c. 1850) has-been upholstered in needlepoint copied from a contemporary piece.
